For others, the word soccer mom would only ring as a soccer coaching or playing mom. They may not know that it is a term in the early 90′s that refers to a homebound mom whose job is basically limited to tending the house and the children. Habitually describe to be carpooling her kids, from house to school and various activities including but not necessary a soccer game or practice.

The term received a negative connotation from some who belittles the tedious work of a homemaker. She’s stereotyped to being a pushy, overly protective, and freaking mother who only relies to his husband’s income. This also described with other unlikely behaviors such as obsessed and careless.

But today, for a lot of people, it’s just a name. And for me, soccer moms are supermoms. They have job outside the house and still manage to devote their time to their kids’ passion.

It is appealing to know that more and more moms are now into the real game. Thanks to the various quality programs and soccer coaching materials that are specifically tailored for mom and kid trainings. These are great vehicles that also promote better relationship between the parents and the rest of the people behind their kids’ game. It is indeed interesting that moms have gone out of their way to organize clubs, to learn and understand the game, and to have fun as well as they fulfill each kid’s dream. And not to forget, they now accepted the fact that shouting extra coaching from the sidelines and throwing killer glances at the referees are really not a good move from them during the games.

Coaching any sport is out of a woman’s comfort zone, but her parental instinct is enough for her to step out and joined other moms who get involved in this laborious undertaking, even considering it as part of their parenting duties. That’s why I say soccer moms are cool, and I myself want to be one.
