Valencia CF Valencia Club de Futbol is often referred to as just Vaencia or as Los Che. Founded in 1919, today Valencia plays in La Liga and is one of the biggest clubs in Spain and one of the most well known in the world.

In total Valencia Club de Futbol has won 6 La Liga titles, 7 Copa del Rey trophies, 2 Spanish Super Cups, 2 Fairs Cups, 1 each of the UEFA Cup and the UEFA Cup Winners Cup, and 2 UEFA Super Cups. They have also come second place in the UEFA Champions League, loosing out in 2000 to Domestic Rivals, Real Madrid, and in 2001 to the German giants, Bayern Munich. Valencia CF is not the only football team in Valencia, in fact, there are two others: Levante and Villarreal. Valencia CF however has the largest following not just in Valencia but is in fact the third most followed team in the whole of Spain. Valencia CF has 45,000 registered official supporters, with a further 20,000 currently on the waiting list who will be registered with the move to Nou Mestalla in 2009.

Valencia play at Estadio Mestalla which they have called home since 1923. This 55,000 seater stadium is soon to be put into retirement. Nou Mestalla which is situated in the north-western part of the city is due to be completed in 2009, and being 30,000 seats larger than Estadio Mestalla, will become Valencia’s new home.

Whether you choose to attend a match or not you will be hard pressed to spend time in Valencia during the football season and to not be made aware of the avid following they have. They play in white and black at home and orange and blue away these are colors that you will see all over the city, on people, on walls, on cars.

Access to Estadio Mestalla is very easy. A 20 minute walk or short taxi drive will get you there from the main coach station. Alternatively the nos. 10 and 80 buses will also get you there. It is located very close to the Universitat de Valencia in the east of the city. Because it is so easy to get to there is little need to search for a hotel in the area, but rather take one of the four star hotels of which there is abundance in the centre of the city. Most of these hotels range between 60 and 80 euros per night making them incredibly reasonable. The level of hotel in Valencia is high, and they cater to the needs of international travelers fantastically well.
