The 18-time champion of the Spanish La Liga, FC Barcelona, kept winning this weekend by beating Recreativo Huelva 2-0 on the 11th date of the league. This is the ninth consecutive Barcelona’s win in La Liga and the 16-straight unbeaten victory of the season.

With this triumph Barça is now three points ahead of Villarreal and five points ahead of Valencia and Real Madrid. During this date, Villarreal tied the game with Malaga 2-2 and Real Madrid and Valencia lost against Valladolid and Sporting Gijon respectively.

At the game against Recreativo, Barcelona was mostly dominating since Messi, Thierry Henry and Eto’o had chances to score in the first half, but the goalkeeper of Recreativo, Asier Riesgo, saved in a great way their intentions. However, Barça’s manager Pep Guardiola, advised his players in half time to have patience and control of the game to get the positive results they wanted to achieve. And then, just in 6 minutes of having started the second half, a free kick of Xavi assisting Messi gave Barça their first goal. Barça then kept attacking Recreativo and at minute 85 the substitute Keita, who was just arriving to the game, scored the second goal for Barcelona. Even with Recreativo’s good defense, Barcelona got their triumph and added more points as the top team of the league.

Coach Pep Guardiola expressed that Recreativo was an uncomfortable team to play but even so they got a positive result.

“Recreativo were an awkward opponent and we had to be patient but a game lasts 90 minutes so it is fine. With these results it is not as if we are the champions, but we are just top at the moment and of course we want to stay there”, Said Guardiola. Barcelona’s rookie coach also stated that their next game against Getafe was going to be a tough one, but his team wants a victory at that match as well.

We have to mention that Lionel Messi has given Barcelona a chance to create options and give positive results. In some way Messi has been the pillar of Barça, not only by scoring his seventh goal of the season with the Culés, but also creating plays and moving defenders to generate spaces in the contender’s area. On the other hand, Xavi the playmaker has been incredible as well, Samiel Eto’o and Thierry Henry have given an amazing balance in the team’s attack and their coach Pep Guardiola has disposed the asserted tactics in every game to generate this amazing winning streak for the club.

The next game of Barcelona will be against Getafe on November 23rd at Camp Nou in Barcelona, followed by their next Champions League match against the Portuguese team Sporting Lisbon on November 26th.

Pep Guardiola and his players expect to keep their effectiveness for the next games and will be working hard all this week to play their best, looking for the key strategies to reach the victory once again. Doing this, the club may add more points to their leadership on La Liga and qualify for the next round of the Champions League.
